BIOGRAPHY: Nicola Bald Creative Photography
Nicola's love for photography began whilst studying for an HND in graphic design. Realising her natural path she went on to gain an Honours Bachelor in Arts Degree in photography Film and Digital Imaging in 2003. Then in 2004 she was granted Princes Trust to pursue her professional photographic career.
Alongside commercial and social work Nicola works on self produced exhibitions. Ten Men, her first solo show in 2004 exploredcross-dressing and notions of masculinity, on permanent display at the GLBT centre..
In 2003 Nicola gained a contract with Ede & Ravenscroft the most historic and highly regarded graduation service in the industry. And gained vital skills as a quick paced studio portrait photographer with customers on demand.
In the spring of 2004 Nicola gained another exceptional contract with
Kodak wedding photographers,
Elegante. Having
no previous experience they systematically trained her for the job.
She now books her own weddings at very reasonable rates, pleases check

Booking her for historic churches and venues including, Aberdour
Castle, Barony
Castle, Blackness
Castle, Dunbarton
Castle, Edinburgh
Castle, Doune
Castle, Cromlix
House to name a few. In her own business she now takes her own bookings
and supplies her own service.
However, she acknowledges that,
“Kodak are a great company to work for, the support, technical
advice and the critical response is vital to any photographer, I would
have to be very rich or thoughtless to give this up!”
Recently, Freedman
Brown Communication the PR company responsible for all promotional
events in Tesco
seized the opportunity to have Nicola on there books with her fresh
and fun approach to press photography she is sent across the country
capruring the action.
Her real passion lies in portraiture “people pictures”
“It’s very easy to be moulded and influenced by the massive
volume of images distributed around the world today. I often arrive
for a portrait session with a client having never met them before or
indeed seen the environment that they are to be photographed in it requires
adaptability and a dose of experimentation. Someone once said to me,
“Limitations can sometimes push your creativity beyond limitation.”
It is this constant set of challenges that keeps Nicola disciplined her
chosen career path and life's quest for creating intriguing imagery.
To date she has a wide range of experience and knowledge (both on location
and studio based) and is competent in all areas of photography.
To date she has produced two successful exhibitions; "Ten Men" a social portraiture exploration of cross dressers in 2005 which is currently on display at the Filmhouse, Edinburgh. www.nbphotos.co.uk/TENMEN05 In 2007
"Light in My Heart;" a body of travel images of Sri Lanka. www.nbphotos.co.uk/srilanka07.
